Working at Union Hospital
At Union Hospital our primary focus is the inpatient setting, but you also will fill outpatient discharge prescriptions and employee prescriptions from a pharmacy satellite in the hospital lobby. We are a 24/7 pharmacy providing services to all classes of patients. A satellite pharmacy is located in our ICU.
Union Hospital has an all-new USP797IV room, and our compounder is the latest model Baxa 240 automated IV compounder. Our pharmacists work in a highly automated environment with equipment that includes the e-MAR electronic medical record system, Pyxis System 3500, Pyxis Connect pharmacy order imaging, Pyxis CII Safe, Pyxis Anesthesia Machines, Pyxis ParX (Pyxis replenishment using bar codes) and Pyxis Cubie Replenishing Station. Union Hospital has Hospira Smart IV Pumps and bedside barcoding in all inpatient units.
Union Hospital’s pharmacy is fully Unit Dose and has a full IV Admixture service. We utilize a separate USP797 negative pressure chemotherapy mixing room. Our full range of clinical services includes therapeutic dosing, patient monitoring, DUE and ADR monitoring, as well as patient safety initiatives and CMS initiatives.
