Union Hospital Named One of Indiana's Best Places to Work

Union Hospital (Union Hospital and Union Hospital Clinton) was recently named as one of the 2009 Best Places to Work in Indiana.

Union Hospital will be recognized and honored at the Best Places to Work in Indiana awards dinner, coordinated by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, on May 5, 2009, where the final Best Places rankings will be announced.

The statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Indiana, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The 2009 Best Places to Work in Indiana list is made up of 40 companies in the small/medium-sized list (25-249 employees) and 30 companies in the large-sized list (250+ employees).

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Indiana. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately one-fourth of the total evaluation. The second part, worth approximately three-fourths of the total evaluation, consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill these eligibility requirements:
- Have at lease 25 employees in Indiana;
- Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity;
- Be a publicly or privately held business;
- Have a facility in the state of Indiana; and
- Have been in business a minimum of one year.

The awards program was created in 2006 and is a project of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Biz Voice, Inside INdiana Business, the Indiana Youth Institute, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and Best Companies Group.

Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process and also analyzed the data and used its expertise to determine the final rankings.
